The Sire is a cambodian-based HMPK with a nice intense red color and minimal iridescence. Ideally the mouth-to-dorsal topline could be a bit smoother. The caudal has a nice D-shape, the front rays of the dorsal are nicely directed forward and the anal is nicely trapezoid-shaped. The ventrals have a good length and shape. The Dame is a darkbody intense red HMPK with minimal traces of iridescence, a nice bodyshape and balanced finnage. Ideally the base of the dorsal fin could be a bit broader.
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, smooth topline and balanced finnage.
The offspring (F2) likely will be light- and darkbody red HMPK. There is a chance of marble to pop up.

02/12/18: The pair spawned.
03/12/18: The fry hatched. Looks like a nice amount of fry!
04/12/18: The Sire is taking excellent care of the fry in the nest.

06/12/18: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
05/01/19: There are both light- and darkbody based reds in this spawn. Here two examples of a cambodian-based or lightbody fry (left picture below) versus a darkbody red fry (right picture below) of 5 weeks old.

23/02/19: The fry are 12 weeks old. Jarred the first males.

24/03/19: Pictures of a 16 week old red HMPK male.
