The Sire is an very clean and intense cambodian-based yellow HMPK which was bred by Pichet Plaisanguan (Thailand) and was purchased at the Area 2 IBC show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. He has a strong body and balanced finnage. The caudal has a good 180 degree spread although the corners are a bit rounded (the outer rays ideally could be a bit longer). The front of the dorsal is nicely directed forward (front rays could be a bit longer) and the anal fin and ventrals have a good shape and length.
The Dame is a darkbody red (yellow-carrier) HMPK female with minimal traces of iridescence. She has a nice strong, long body and smooth topline. She has a good D-shaped caudal with nice long outer rays. Ideally the base of the dorsal fin could be a bit broader.

With this cross I hope to obtain some darkbody yellow HMPKs to work further with. In addition, I hope to fix the strong bodies, the smooth topline and the balanced finnage. The offspring (F1) will be light- and darkbody red and yellow HMPK.

03/11/23: The pair spawned. This is a special day as today it has been 20 years ago since the first pair spawned in my Betta Territory, for a flashback, click here: BT110303.
04/11/23: The fry hatched.
06/11/22: The fry entered the free-swimming stage and the Sire was removed.
09/04/23: The fry are now 4-weeks old. So far all fry seem to be darkbody with some traces of red and copper iridescence on the body and finnage.

05/05/23: The fry are now 8-weeks old. As expected the fry are dark- and lightbody red and yellows. Picture spam!!
