The Sire is lightbody gold HMPK with a nice intense yellow shine. He has a nice bodyshape but the finnage needs quite some work. The caudal does shows a 180 degree spread but the corners ideally could be sharper (outer rays longer) and the anal has pretty good trapazoid shape. The dorsal ideally could be a bit more voluminous with a broader based and the front rays a bit longer and more directed forward. The ventrals have a good length and volume. The Dame is a metallic pastel yellow HMPK from my own yellow x gold cross. She shows a nice torpedo-shaped body and smooth balanced finnage although the dorsal could be a bit fuller in volume.
This cross is a trial cross to learn more on the interaction between yellow and gold. With this cross I hope to obtain a more yellow-based gold. Further I hope to fix the strong bodies, smooth topline and balanced finnage.
The offspring (F1) will be HMPK. Colorwise this cross will likely give heterozygous metallic pastel and gold (=homozygous metallic) with a varying degree of yellow shine. Some red wash might appear.

14/05/17: The pair spawned.
15/05/17: The fry hatched, seems to quite a big spawn!
18/05/17: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
20/05/17: The fry is feeding well on vinegar eels and BBS.
05/07/17: 7 weeks old! The fry was moved to a bigger tank. The fry is heterozygout metallic pastel (lower left picture) and gold (lower right picture) as expected. I did cull some rosetails.

19/09/17: Fry are nicely catching up in growth. Interesting to see that the iridescencent layer besides being hetero- or homozygous metallic is distrubuted quite differently from fry to fry.
