The Sire is a strongbodied cambodian-based red HMPK. He has a smooth topline and balanced appearance. The caudal fin has a >180 degree spread, nice broad-based dorsal (front rays ideally could be a bit longer), and the  anal fin and ventrals are nicely matching the rest of the fish. The Dame is darkbodied red HMPK with a nice strong body (topline could be a bit smoother). The finnage is nicely balanced (D-shaped caudal and parallel anal fin and broad based dorsal). The Dame is a half-sister to the male.
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, smooth topline and balanced finnage.
The offspring (F1) will be both dark- as lightbodied red HMPKs with a chance of DTPKs to pop up.

17/03/14: The pair spawned. Eggs in the nest.
18/03/14: The fry hatched.
20/03/14: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
22/03/14: The fry is feeding well on vinegar eels and BBS.
06/04/14: The fry is now 2 weeks old. Spotted some DTs among the fry.

12/05/14: The fry is now 8 weeks old. There are both dark- and lightbodied fry.

30/05/14: The fry is now 10 weeks old.

13/07/14: The fry is now 17 weeks old. There are some promising young males. The topline of some of the males ideally could be a bit smoother.

12/09/14: 25 weeks old.

26/09/14: Two pictures of a light- and darkbodied male now 27 weeks old. I think there is a good potential in these fish with respect to color and form but the mouth-to-topline does need some work.

10/11/14: 34 weeks old.
