The Sire is a cambodian based extended red which was bred by my friend Eugenio Fornasiero from Italy. He popped up from a spawn between a female from Eugenio (her grand-grand-grand mother was a red DTPK descending from my own line: BT030112) and an import male. The sire is a big fish with a strong body, beautiful topline, and very balanced finnage with a great form. The Sire was awarded with the 3rd place in the non-iridescent asymmetrical HMPK class at the Holland Betta Show 2014. The Dame is a strong bodied darkbodied red HMPK with a nice broad dorsal base and moderate branching in the finnage.
With this cross I hope to fix the intense red color without hardly any traces of iridescence, the strong bodies, smooth topline and the balanced finnage. The offspring (F1) will be both dark- and lightbodied extended red HMPKs.

23/01/15: The pair spawned. Eggs in the nest. Sire is taking good care!
23/01/15: The fry hatched, looks like a bit spawn.
25/01/15: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
13/03/15: The fry are now 7 weeks old. There are both light- and darkbodied fry. Spotted some nice broad dorsals. The fry has been moved to a bigger grow-out.

05/05/15: The fry is 14 weeks old and several males already have been jarred. There are some fish with impressive dorsals!

11/06/15: Some pictures of some young dark- and lightbodied red HMPK males now 20 weeks old.
