Sire: Black/Blue Star HMPK

(โกส นายหัว, Thailand)
Black (lace) HMPK
F1, BT120920
(Betta Territory, The Netherlands)

The Sire is a Nemo/Galaxy HMPK with a nice bodyshape and pretty good balance. The unpaired fins have a decent shape (big D-shaped caudal, trapezoid shaped anal and the dorsal with the front rays directed forward). Points of attention here are the lack of volume in the dorsal, the slope of the anal vin and the multiple tips in the ventrals. The Dame is a black (lace) based HMPK from my own line without hardly any visible iridescence. She has a strong bodyshape and very nice shaped & balanced finnage. She was awarded Best of Show Female at the Virtual Bettas4all Show @ Vivarium Online (November 2020).
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, the smooth topline and work towards a nice patterned blue/star/marble/koi line with a better form & finnage.
The offspring (F1) most likely will start as blue/red with a black underlayer with a good chance of marbles to pop up. Hopefully some already will develop some marble patterns along the way.

28/03/21: The pair spawned.
29/03/21: The fry hatched.
31/03/21: The fry entered the free-swimming stage and the Sire was removed.
30/05/21: The fry initially started as blue/red with a black underlayer. At 9 weeks of age some fry are now marbline. In the video below they are feeding on tubifex.

17/07/21: The fry have grown well and are marbling nicely! At 16 weeks of age the first males have been jarred.

23/08/21: Two black & white HMPK brothers @ 21 weeks of age.

23/08/21: Potential breeding pair at 38 weeks of age.
